Why Practice Meditation?
Why do people practice meditation?

The reason is to free the mind of all kinds of mental distortion such as sorrow, worry, stress, strain, depression and despair, so that we can live peacefully and happily.

With this view in mind you have to sometimes practice samatha meditation and at other times, vipassana meditation according to the circumstances.
